Festive Magic Unfolds at Fushifaru Maldives

As the festive season arrives, Fushifaru Maldives comes alive with warmth, celebration, and the unmistakable charm of a boutique island retreat. This year’s festivities began in spectacular style, setting the tone for a season filled with joyful moments, family-friendly experiences, and exceptional dining in an intimate island setting.

The celebrations commenced on 20 December with a captivating tree-lighting ceremony at Thundi, timed perfectly with the island’s golden sunset. Guests gathered to enjoy live music and elegant canapés as the festive lights illuminated the shoreline, marking the official start of a holiday programme that runs through 6 January. Throughout this period, the island hosts a thoughtfully curated range of activities designed to delight guests of all ages, from cupcake decorating and lively pool parties to Boduberu classes, sandcastle building, and tennis sessions for younger guests.

A highlight of the season was the Christmas Eve celebration on 24 December, which delivered an evening to remember. Festivities began with Santa’s arrival, followed by a sunset aperitif and gift-giving for children, creating a magical atmosphere for families. The evening then flowed into an impressive Christmas Gala Dinner, where guests were treated to an extensive spread of international cuisine.

Seafood lovers were particularly spoilt, with a live grilled station showcasing jumbo prawns, lobsters, a variety of fresh fish, clams, octopus, and more — all artfully presented aboard a traditional Maldivian Dhoni boat. Complementing this was a dedicated Japanese corner featuring fresh sashimi, oysters, and other refined delicacies, adding an elegant global touch to the feast.

The dessert finale was equally indulgent. Chefs presented a lavish selection of sweet creations, including mousses, crème brûlée, tiramisu, macarons, meringues, soufflés, and an array of other treats, ensuring every guest ended the evening on a deliciously high note.

As night fell, the celebration continued with an energetic disco set by DJ Elton, followed by a breathtaking performance from Anastasia Gordienko, whose hula hoops, LED artistry, and aerial gymnastics captivated the audience and brought the Christmas Eve festivities to a stunning close.
