Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi Announces Key Team Promotions
Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi has announced key promotions across several departments, effective March 1, 2026. The appointments recognise team members whose dedication and commitment continue to shape the resort’s guest experience and operational excellence.

Ahmed Moosa – Director of Airport Operations
Ahmed Moosa has been promoted to Director of Airport Operations, building upon his previous role as Airport Manager, where he oversaw the arrival and departure experience that defines the beginning and end of every guest’s journey to the island. In a proud milestone for the Maldivian hospitality industry, Ahmed Moosa, widely known in the industry as “Seyta” becomes the first Maldivian to hold this title in airport operations within the country’s luxury resort sector at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi.
Seyta’s journey in hospitality and aviation reflects dedication, resilience, and deep industry experience. He began his career at Lohifushi Island Resort, developing a passion for guest experience, and has since contributed to three prestigious resort pre-openings in the Maldives, including Anantara Kihavah Villas, Vakkaru Maldives, and Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. His expertise in establishing seamless airport arrivals and VIP guest handling has been instrumental in shaping the standards of luxury guest transfers across the country.
Prior to joining the resort sector, Seyta gained valuable aviation experience with Maldivian Air Taxi and Island Aviation Services, further strengthening his knowledge of airport operations. Beyond his professional achievements, he is fondly remembered in his hometown of Addu City, particularly in Feydhoo, where he once entertained guests with music during his time at Equator Village, reflecting the same passion for hospitality and guest connection that continues to define his leadership today.
Mohamed Shiyam – Chief Personal Concierge
Mohamed Shiyam advances to Chief Personal Concierge, having served as Personal Concierge, reflecting his dedication to anticipating guest needs and delivering the thoughtful service that defines the Waldorf Astoria experience.
Prior to his promotion, Shiyam played a key role in the pre-opening of Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi as Personal Concierge, overseeing guest services and ensuring exceptional experiences from the resort’s earliest days. He has also served as an International Specialist with Les Clefs d’Or® International, further enhancing his expertise in luxury concierge standards and global best practices. Earlier in his career, he gained extensive experience across prestigious properties, including Conrad Maldives Rangali Island as Guest Service Agent, Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Niseko Village, Japan as Front Desk Agent (Taskforce), and Villa Hotels at Paradise Island Resort.
In his current role, Shiyam continues to elevate the guest experience, combining deep operational knowledge with personalised service, anticipating every need, and setting a benchmark for concierge excellence in the Maldives luxury hospitality sector.
Khaled Jarrah – Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications
Khaled Jarrah has been promoted to Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications, progressing from Marketing & Communications Manager. In this role, he continues to shape the resort’s brand presence and storytelling.
Prior to his current role, Khaled held several key positions within the Banyan Group, including Digital Marketing Manager at Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru, Assistant Digital Marketing Manager across Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, Dhawa Ihuru, and Angsana Velavaru, and Digital Marketing Executive at Banyan Tree Doha at La Cigale Mushaireb. During this time, he led digital marketing strategies, social media campaigns, website management, and content optimisation, achieving significant growth in audience engagement, lead generation, and brand visibility.
In his current role at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, Khaled focuses on elevating marketing campaigns, digital media strategies, and brand storytelling. His expertise in luxury hospitality marketing, combined with a strong track record of driving results across multiple properties, continues to shape the resort’s commercial success and guest engagement in the Maldives.
Hamid Hamdhee – Chief Sommelier
Hamid Hamdhee steps into the role of Chief Sommelier, following his tenure as Assistant Chief Sommelier, reflecting his expertise in beverage and dining excellence and dedication to enhancing the resort’s luxury dining experiences.
Prior to his promotion, Hamdhee served as Assistant Chief Sommelier and Assistant Manager – Sommelier at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, where he oversaw wine selection, staff training, and guest experiences across the resort’s signature outlets. He also gained extensive experience at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island as Outlet Manager – Sommelier, and earlier held roles as Restaurant Team Leader at Waldorf Astoria Manafaru. Over the years, Hamdhee has built a reputation for exceptional service, deep wine knowledge, and a commitment to curating memorable dining experiences for luxury guests.
In his current role as Chief Sommelier, Hamdhee continues to elevate the resort’s culinary offerings, ensuring each guest enjoys personalised, world-class wine experiences that complement Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi’s standards of excellence.
