NH Collection Maldives Havodda Resort Appoints Keith Tomkies As General Manager

NH Collection Maldives Havodda Resort has announced the appointment of Keith Tomkies as its new General Manager, bringing nearly three decades of international hospitality experience and a strong track record of leading luxury hotels and resorts across global markets.

With extensive expertise in hotel operations, strategic leadership, and guest experience management, Keith joins NH Collection Maldives Havodda Resort following a distinguished career with some of the world’s leading hospitality brands.

Throughout his career, Keith has held senior leadership positions across Asia, Europe, and the Indian Ocean region, working in renowned destinations including London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing, Penang, and Sri Lanka. His professional journey has included leadership roles with internationally recognised hospitality groups such as Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Dusit International, Regent Hotels, and Claridge’s London.

Prior to joining NH Collection Maldives Havodda Resort, Keith served as General Manager Operations China for Minor Hotels, where he oversaw hotel operations and development projects across the region. Before this role, he successfully led Anantara Kalutara Resort and Avani Kalutara Resort in Sri Lanka as Cluster General Manager, managing operations while strengthening service standards and enhancing guest experiences.

Keith’s leadership philosophy is centred around the belief that people are at the heart of hospitality. Having spent much of his career living and working across different cultures, he believes his international experiences have reinforced the importance of human connection. “Having spent more than half of my life living in different parts of the world, embracing different cultures has taught me an important life lesson: despite our many differences, we are really all the same,” said Keith.

Speaking about his arrival in the Maldives, Keith highlighted his appreciation for the destination and its people. “The Maldives was truly love at first sight. From Havodda’s stunning house reef and vibrant marine life to the warmth and hospitality of its people, every day here reminds me why this destination is so special,” he said.

Beyond his professional journey, Keith is passionate about exploring cultures through food and believes cuisine plays an important role in understanding a destination. His culinary experiences around the world have included sampling unique local dishes across Asia, and he has recently added the Maldivian favourite Kulhi Mas to his list of memorable culinary discoveries. Outside of hospitality, Keith enjoys spending time with his family, staying active through sports, particularly rugby, and pursuing his passion for skiing.
