Amilla Fushi bans use of plastic straws

As part of its commitment to protecting the marine environment, Amilla Fushi has removed all plastic straws from the resort and replaced them with paper straws.

Located in the Baa Atoll UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, Amilla Fushi is committed to marine conservation. As such, the resort is striving to reduce all single-use plastics (that can end up in the ocean and harm marine-life) and to work in harmony with the natural bounty of the area.

Amilla Fushi in partnership with Parley has also implemented a strategy to no longer purchase single-use plastic bottles, rather converting to reusable glass bottles, as well as limiting plastic usage throughout the resort. The resort has a water bottling plant on the island to provide guests and Amilla Islanders with pure water; negating the need for plastic bottles.
