COVID-19 Suspected Case from Foreign Vessel on Maldivian Waters

Health Protection Agency of Maldives (HPA) has announced that samples will be taken from 2 foreign nationals from a safari vessel; MY SKY — who developed COVID-19 like symptoms.

National Boating Association of Maldives, in a tweet has revealed that MY SKY is not a registered safari boat or a bare boat. They said that it maybe a foreign charter vessel operating in Maldives as it’s not appearing on any registered facilities list of Ministry of Tourism.

HPA informs that the suspected individuals have been placed under isolation.

The safari vessel is also currently under monitoring status.

COVID-19 has been declared as a pandemic by WHO and the government of Maldives has been taking several precautionary measures to contain the spread of the disease in the country.

So far, there have been 13 positive cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives.
