COVID-19: Travel Restrictions Lifted From 4 Resorts, 15 Safaris

Spokesperson of National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) have revealed that employees in four resorts and onboard 15 safari boats have been given the go-ahead to evacuate the tourist establishments.

Speaking at the press conference he revealed that the four resorts are Malahini Kuda Bandos, Brennia Kottefaru Resort, Rahaa Resort and Four seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah.

Furthermore, employees onboard 15 safari boats have also been given the green light to evacuate the vessels. The safari boats are;

  • Conte Max
  • Over Reef
  • Sea Coral Voyages Maldives Private Limited
  • Magic Land Maldives
  • Theia Safari
  • Assidha Safari / Muraka Ventures
  • Leo
  • Noah Safari
  • Stella 1
  • Ensis Felicity
  • Soleil 1
  • Princess Noor
  • Maldives Mosaique

The government previously announced that safari workers and resort staff can leave the vessel after 14 days quarantine from the departure of its last guests and the approval of Health Protection Agency (HPA).

In order to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, authorities have ceased travel of any persons to and from resorts and safaris to any residential island within the Maldives. Maldives has also banned the entry of all foreign passenger vessels to the country.

The government has taken a number of precautionary measures against the rapidly escalating state of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
