At the very heart of Hurawalhi Island Resorts’ ethos is the theme ‘Luxury Treading Lightly‘ and the resort is proud to be joining millions of others across the globe in celebrating Earth Hour on Saturday 26th March. Earth Hour is a global environmental movement which sees around 185 countries switch off the lights for an hour in the evening, creating a wave of darkness across the planet.
While Earth Hour is not about how much energy is saved during the hour, but mainly about putting the spotlight on the issues facing the planet and inspiring people to live more sustainably, in past years it was observed that the resort’s power consumption decreased by over a half compared to the hourly average of the preceding week – just by turning off the non-essential lights at the resort.
Hurawalhi views sustainability as the essence of its operation and goes well beyond Earth Hour in its commitment to the protection of our blue planet. From harnessing solar energy and using glass water bottles to energy-wise hot showers and ocean conservation, the resort seeks to keep its ecological footprint small. The Maldives is a paradise like no other and the resort has pledged to do everything they can to keep it that way.
Hurawalhi Island Resort invites their guests to them in what promises to be an amazing and inspiring global celebration of our collective commitment to the planet. On Saturday, March 26th, please join them for an epicurean, romantic, Maldivian BBQ dinner under the stars from 19:30 to 22:00. Hurawalhi will be switching off all non-essential lights between 20:30 and 21:30, enhancing the already spectacular ambiance.
