Maldives’ Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal announced the government’s ambitious plans to inaugurate six to eight new resorts this year. Speaking at a program aired on PSM News, Minister Faisal emphasised that the Ministry of Tourism is fully committed to expediting the opening of these resorts.

Additionally, Minister Faisal revealed that discussions were held with the contractors overseeing these projects. He affirmed the ministry’s willingness to provide assistance and support to investors, including the possibility of involving foreign investors, to ensure the successful completion of the projects. The Minister expressed confidence that up to six to eight resorts could officially open within the year.
According to statistics released by the ministry, there are currently 174 operating resorts, collectively offering 42,965 beds to tourists.
