Guesthouse Association of Maldives (GAM) has decided to conduct a virtual discussion forum “Guesthouse Opinion” with guesthouse operators of Maldives to discuss and share opinion regarding the current situation due to COVID-19.
GAM will take the concerns of the operators received from this forum to the relevant authorities and formulate an SOP to facilitate smooth operations when the guesthouses reopen for the market.
First session of this forum will be held on 12th May, with the guesthouse operators in Male’ city area.
GAM has previously revealed that according to the survey carried out to identify the impact of COVID-19, the Maldives guesthouse industry will lose nearly USD 30 million in revenue.
With the travel ban in effect and the nationwide shutdown of the guesthouses, the industry has come to a halt indefinitely.
