Julia Ivankovich has accepted the invitation from Özgür Cengiz to assume the role of Global Wellness Day Ambassador for the Maldives. Recognising the growing emphasis on a healthy lifestyle, Ivankovich sees her mission as a reminder of the significance of mental well-being and the profound impact of negative emotions on various facets of our lives.
The Maldives, often hailed as a paradise, is not exempt from the universal human experience of seeking change and fulfilment. Ivankovich believes wellness plays a crucial role in this pursuit, providing clarity of mind and guiding individuals to transform negatives into constructive forces.
According to Ivankovich, wellness extends beyond individual well-being and encompasses the support network surrounding us. The overarching objective is to foster health, promote a balanced lifestyle, and establish harmony in various aspects such as diet, work, exercise, and daily activities.
Established in 2012 by Belgin Aksoy, Global Wellness Day is a not-for-profit international social project. It is dedicated to realising the common aspiration for a healthier and improved life. The core purpose of this day is to channel the collective focus of individuals and society towards living well, achieving inner peace, and breaking free from detrimental habits and stressors. Celebrated on the second Saturday of June each year, Global Wellness Day involves millions of people in over 170 countries and numerous locations worldwide, engaging in complementary activities.
Recognising that health is the cornerstone of all endeavours, Ivankovich emphasises that true well-being emanates from a balanced combination of exercise, healthy eating, and inner peace. She urges everyone to embark on this journey together, suggesting simple actions such as walking, staying hydrated, performing acts of kindness, and enjoying family dinners. She also encourages setting an example for environmental stewardship by maintaining cleanliness in personal and communal spaces.
Looking ahead, the upcoming Global Wellness Day is slated for June 8, 2024, and Ivankovich invites everyone to mark their calendars. As a prelude to the event, she calls for collective action in the new year, emphasising the transformative power of positive change.
The global community is urged to unite in embracing wellness, believing that small, intentional steps can pave the way for a healthier and more balanced future.
