Maldives Border Miles has now surpassed 1.5 million members. Introduced as the first three-tier destination loyalty program of its kind, the program has gained remarkable popularity in a relatively short period.
Maldives Border Miles was officially launched on September 27, 2020, coinciding with World Tourism Day, and became operational on January 1, 2021. The program was established through a collaborative effort involving Maldives Immigration, the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), and Maldives Airports Company. Since its inception, the loyalty program has attracted a significant number of tourists interested in experiencing the natural beauty and hospitality of the Maldives.
The program rewards members with points based on various factors, including the duration of their stay, participation in local events, visits for special occasions, and frequency of visits. With three tiers available, each tier offers unique benefits that correspond to the member’s status. To progress through the tiers, members need to accumulate a specific number of points, unlocking a range of rewards, services, and benefits that increase in value as they move up.
The pinnacle of the Maldives Border Miles program is the Abaarana tier, which provides members with notable advantages, including expedited immigration services during arrival and departure at Maldives Airports Company Limited’s VIP service lounge. These perks aim to ensure a seamless and luxurious travel experience, enhancing the appeal of the Maldives as a preferred destination.
