The Maldives Tourism Minister, Ibrahim Faisal, has announced a new record for the largest number of tourist arrivals in a single day. In a recent tweet, Minister Faisal revealed that 10,213 tourists will arrive in the Maldives today. This will surpass the previous record set just last week, where over 8,900 tourists visited the island nation.
The surge in tourist arrivals is attributed to increasing numbers of visitors from China, which held the top market position prior to the pandemic, and Western Europe, a historically significant source of tourism for the Maldives.
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, China currently leads as the top source of tourists for the Maldives, followed by Italy in second place, and Russia in third.
