The Maldives has today officially welcomed the 1 millionth tourist for the year 2023!
The one-millionth tourist to arrive in the Maldives this year was Anton Pavlov. He was welcomed at Velana International Airport (VIA) by officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Maldives Immigration.
With the Tourism Ministry’s initial estimation of hitting the one million tourist mark in July, the country has exceeded expectations, and the ministry announced that this milestone has been achieved ahead of schedule.
Amidst this success, the government’s ambitious target to attract 1.8 million tourists in 2023 is now more within reach than ever. The steady stream of tourists arriving daily, coupled with the anticipated surge during the peak tourism season in November and December, indicates a highly promising outlook to not only meet but potentially surpass this target.
