Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) together with tourism industry partners are taking part in the largest Holiday and Travel fair, FESPO 2020 to increase the Maldives brand exposure in Switzerland.
FESPO is held in Zurich, Switzerland from 30th January to 2nd February 2020. Maldives will be showcased by MMPRC together with 12 industry professionals from 9 companies. The Maldives Stand will feature colorful destination images of Maldives to grab the attention of visitors. To attract more visitors to the stand, several activities will be carried at the stand. Visitors will be given the opportunity to win goodie bags and holiday prize to Maldives sponsored by Adaaran Resorts and Reethi Faru Resort. A traditional food display will also be presented at the stand to allow the visitors to taste Maldivian food.
Business meetings with the industry stakeholders from the Switzerland are also planned in order to identify strategies to further improve the market performance and strengthen the presence of the destination within Switzerland.
FESPO is a four-day fair, which attracts a large number of visitors from Switzerland. Last year over 65,000 people attended the fair. FESPO presents numerous opportunities to network with journalists, travel bloggers, travel Industry professionals and a huge number of potential travelers from the Swiss Market and German Speaking nationalities.
Switzerland is the 13th highest performing market in terms of tourist arrivals to Maldives as well as one of the important traditional markets. A total of 33,829 tourist arrivals were recorded from Switzerland to Maldives in 2019, which is an increase of 2.6% compared to 2018. In addition to participating in FESPO, MMPRC plans to further strengthen the market with additional activities throughout the year.
