MMPRC Chairperson and Board Member Resigns

Ayesha Nurain Janah, chairperson of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), and board member Rafil Mohamed, who represented the MMPRC on behalf of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), have both resigned.

Nurain, who assumed office on 27 December last year, stated that her primary goal was to restructure and rebrand the corporation at the request of Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal. She emphasised the importance of prioritising discussions and considering the opinions of all stakeholders within the industry. Nurain is a chartered accountant with over a decade of management experience and also serves as the vice chair of Janah’s Hotels and Resort Investment Group.

Additionally, Rafil Mohamed has resigned from his role as an MMPRC board member. According to a source close to Rafil, who confirmed the news to Mirror, he stepped down a couple of weeks ago due to dissatisfaction with certain decisions made by the company’s board.
