MMPRC Promotes Maldives at OTM Mumbai and Moscow Dive Show 2024

Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (Visit Maldives), in collaboration with industry representatives, is actively promoting the Maldives’ enchanting offerings at prominent international travel events.

At the OTM Mumbai event, MMPRC, alongside 50 industry representatives from 33 companies, is showcasing the Maldives’ diverse attractions to the Indian market. The event, held from 8th to 10th February at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, serves as a crucial platform for strengthening business relations and highlighting the Maldives as the preferred holiday destination for Indian tourists of all segments. With India being the top source market for the Maldives in recent years, MMPRC’s participation at OTM aims to further enhance the destination’s appeal through various promotional activities, including media interviews, gastronomical experiences, and engagement with travel trade professionals.

OTM, a 3-day B2B travel mart, serves as one of the largest international gatherings of travel trade buyers and professionals held in India. The event provides numerous opportunities for visitors and exhibitors to connect with the travel trade partners and industry leaders from India and beyond to collaborate and strengthen their business relations.

Throughout this event, MMPRC aims to maintain our destination presence as the most preferred holiday destination for all segments of Indian tourists. Participation at OTM assists in connecting with the travel trade from the Indian Market, sharing the latest updates about the Maldives and the unique tourism products, services and experiences available in the Maldives. Additionally, it provides industry partners the opportunity to promote their individual properties and unique products.

Visitors can expect various activities at the Maldives stand at OTM 2024, including meetings with key travel trade professionals and other partners, media interviews, and other activities. The Maldives stand also features gastronomical experiences where visitors are offered a chance to sample Maldivian delicacies.

India was the top source market to the Maldives last year with 208,876 arrivals received by 31st December 2023, which is 14.4% of the total market share.

Simultaneously, MMPRC is spotlighting the vibrant underwater world of the Maldives at the Moscow Dive Show 2024, in collaboration with four industry partners. Held from 8th to 11th February at the “Gostinyi Dvor” Exhibition Centre in Moscow, Russia, the event targets both B2B and B2C clientele passionate about diving and water-based sports. With over 2,000 marine species and captivating diving spots across its atolls, the Maldives is renowned globally as a premier dive destination. Visit Maldives’ comprehensive strategy for the Russian market includes leveraging social media platforms popular in Russia, such as VK and Telegram, along with conventional media channels. The goal is to maintain a robust destination presence and solidify the Maldives’ position as a top choice for Russian travellers. Activities planned for the year’s first quarter include joint marketing promotions and strategic initiatives to further enhance the Maldives’ appeal in the Russian market.

Russia has proven to be a significant source market for the Maldives. In 2022, the Maldives welcomed 201,954 visitors from Russia, securing its position as the top source market. This trend continued in 2023, with 208,041 arrivals as the 2nd top source market of the year.
