October at ROBINSON NOONU: Nature’s Spectacle & Festive Beginnings in Paradise

October welcomed a month of wonder at ROBINSON NOONU, where the island’s turquoise waters and lush jungle came alive with rare marine encounters, festive anticipation, and vibrant celebrations. As the high season begins, guests are soaking up sunshine, exceptional hospitality, and experiences that linger long after they return home.

A Rare Night-Time Ocean Ballet

This month’s most extraordinary highlight unfolded beneath the resort’s jetty, where dozens of mobula rays appeared nightly — sometimes up to twenty at once. Gliding effortlessly through shallow water, these majestic “devil rays,” named for their horn-shaped fins, captivated onlookers with their sweeping, wing-like movements. Though closely related to manta rays, they are gentle plankton feeders, moving in harmonious formation through the lagoon.

Such gatherings are exceptionally uncommon, especially in waters so near to shore. Their presence drew the interest of the Manta Trust, who expressed hopes of studying this fascinating phenomenon. Evening snorkel trips and dives became unforgettable encounters, often made even more magical by sightings of playful dolphins and their calves nearby.

A Taste of Christmas, Island-Style

Festive excitement is already in the air as the team begins preparations for an annual culinary tradition: the making of ROBINSON NOONU’s classic Christmas cake.

Prepared following an age-old recipe, dried fruits, nuts, and aromatic spices are soaked in an indulgent blend of rum, wine, and spirits. Once sealed in airtight containers, the mixture rests for up to eight weeks, allowing the flavors to deepen and develop richness worthy of the holiday season.

By the time Christmas arrives, guests will enjoy a cake that is far more than a treat — it is a celebration of time, tradition, and the warmth of island hospitality. Crafted with passion and care, this festive delight brings the spirit of the holidays to the Maldives in the most delicious way.

A Jungle Halloween to Remember

Halloween took on a thrilling new identity this year as celebrations moved deep into the tropical jungle for the first time. Guests began their spooky evening with an eerie dinner buffet before following a haunted trail through the palms to where the true party awaited.

With mist rolling through the trees and the night alive with excitement, visitors danced beneath the canopy during a special themed performance. A big shout-out goes to DJ Miba, whose energetic beats set the tone for a night of laughter, chills, and unforgettable memories.

As the season continues, ROBINSON NOONU looks forward to more sun-filled days, joyful gatherings, and meaningful ocean encounters. Whether diving into crystal-clear waters, savoring exquisite island cuisine, or unwinding under a sky filled with stars, every moment on this little island paradise is designed to become a story worth retelling.
