Roadshows will pave the future for the Maldivian tourism industry, said the Managing Director of Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) while giving an introductory speech at the TTM Travel Summit.
During the Summit, he spoke about different approaches which MMPRC is taking to improve the arrival figures of tourists into the Maldives. Moreover, he focused on how the millennials are an increasing source demography which should be utilized to increase arrival statistics. And seeing how they mostly rely on the internet for their bookings, we should try to improve in that sector according to MD Thoyyib.
Regarding some questions on how the foresight of the industry looks towards the future, and how the work of MMPRC is bound around the work of increasing arrivals, MD Thoyyib commented, “we are trying to slowly improve so we cannot say much about the next 5 years. However, by the end of the year, we will see a major increase in arrivals. Our target for the year is 1.5 million tourists, but we are hoping for an even greater count.”
