Sun Siyam Group Promotes Ahmed Rasheed To Group Director of Finance

Sun Siyam Group has announced the promotion of Ahmed Rasheed to Group Director of Finance, marking a significant milestone in the group’s leadership journey and its long-standing commitment to developing Maldivian talent.

With more than 15 years of service within Sun Siyam, Ahmed Rasheed’s career reflects a steady progression through the group’s finance function, having joined at a junior level and advancing through key leadership roles including Financial Accountant, Corporate Systems and Business Analyst, Assistant Director of Finance, and most recently Deputy Director of Finance. His appointment makes him the first Maldivian to hold the position of Group Director of Finance within the organisation.

Throughout his tenure, Rasheed has played a central role in strengthening the group’s financial governance, consolidated IFRS reporting, internal controls, and systems infrastructure. He has led group wide budgeting and forecasting processes, overseen treasury and liquidity management, and supported major financial transformation initiatives across the portfolio. His background also includes public sector audit experience with the Maldives Ministry of Finance and Treasury, providing him with a strong foundation in compliance, risk management, and regulatory oversight .

In his new role, Rasheed will provide strategic financial leadership across Sun Siyam Group, working closely with senior management, the wider business development teams,  and resort General Managers to drive financial performance, operational efficiencies, and long term growth. His responsibilities include group wide financial planning, treasury management, risk and tax oversight, audit functions, capital planning, and supporting investment and expansion initiatives across the Group’s diversified portfolio
