Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, announced the successful celebration of Children’s Day on May 10th and World Thalassemia Day on May 12th, 2024. These events, held in collaboration with the local communities of Dh Hulhudelhi and Bandidhoo, showcased their commitment to social responsibility, education, and community engagement.

On May 10th, the team from Sun Siyam Vilu Reef visited the nearby island of Dh Hulhudelhi to celebrate Children’s Day with the local kids. The day was filled with joy and laughter as children participated in a variety of fun activities and games organized by staff. Highlights of the day included:

World Thalassemia Day on Bandidhoo

In honour of World Thalassemia Day on May 12th, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef organised a special awareness event on the nearby island of Bandidhoo. The event aimed to educate and spread awareness about thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder, among the local population and resort staff. Key activities included:

  • Educational Talk: Specialist doctors delivered an informative talk on thalassemia, discussing its causes, symptoms, and treatments. They emphasised the importance of early diagnosis and regular medical care.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Printey, the Sustainability Spokesperson, highlighted the resort’s efforts to promote health and well-being within the community. Printey’s engaging presentation underscored the significance of awareness and support for individuals affected by thalassemia.
