Owned, managed and run by Taj Hotels, the Jiva brand of spas is synonymous with holistic healing, guiding guests towards a delicate balance of physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Offering unique spa experiences designed to time tested Indian recipes derived from the ancient ayurvedic books, the Jiva spa resurrects the lifestyle culture of the Royals, sharing the art and science of healing to all who seek sanctuary in its soothing therapies.
Shedding light on the inner aspects of wellness through Ayurveda, the award-winning Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives recently launched ‘Jiva Wellness Talks’ aptly named “The Healing Touch” – an engaging platform for guests to be aware of how Ayurveda can add value to their daily lives. Conducted by Spa Manager and Ayurvedic practitioner Dr. Padmanabh Antrolikar, these interesting and interactive sessions focus on guiding attendees towards entrancement – the ultimate goal of life.
Carrying years of experience in practicing Ayurvedic treatments and living a life defined by ancient rituals of holistic living, Dr. Padmanabh shares his expertise on the age-old Indian medical science, not as a technical discipline but as a way of life; connecting the body, mind and soul. Open to all resident guests, the talks cover a range of topics such as yoga, meditation, nutrition, health tips and harmony of the body, mind and spirit.
“Everyone talks of wellness, but wellness goes beyond the gym,” says Dr. Padmanabh. “It is the subtle art of balancing your body, mind and spirit by instilling healthy practices into your lifestyle – sometimes by doing simple things like going back to your childhood hobbies to reconnect with your inner self.”
Guests are welcome to ask questions and share their experiences, while sipping some detoxing Vishudhi tea and being lulled into serenity by the sound of the lapping ocean waves and the subtle scent of jasmine at the Jiva spa. While the wellness talks are held every Wednesday and Saturday at the Jiva Spa from 11.00 am to 11.30 am, guests who seek more in-depth sessions can also arrange times with Dr. Padmanabh, whose doors are always open when it comes to sharing Ayurvedic wisdom.
The spa, which overlooks the azure ocean and sunny skies, offers an unparalleled array of treatments done using bespoke products, with all-natural ingredients and well experienced therapists, trained at the Jiva Training Academy in India. The spa is the first of its kind to promote wellness holidays in the Maldives. Offering a range of therapies including Indian therapies, spa indulgences, body scrubs, wraps, Ayurvedic treatments, yoga, meditation and beauty rituals, the spa is renowned for its signature experiences such as the two-hour long Sushupti which exfoliates the body with a natural mixture of honey, rice and cream, and offers a relaxing, stress-erasing facial massage using Jiva signature oils.
All therapies are tailor-made to suit the requirements of guests, be it couples on a romantic honeymoon, individuals seeking solitary retreat or families looking for a relaxing holiday.
