Tourism Ministry Introduces TikTok Challenge to Celebrate Tourism Golden Jubilee

The Tourism Ministry of the Maldives has announced a TikTok challenge to celebrate the Maldivian Tourism’s Golden Jubilee. The competition was announced with the introduction of the official celebration song “Nala Nala Raajje”.

The Tourism Ministry’s TikTok Challenge will take place from March 12th to May 10th, 2022, and will be open to both Maldivians and foreigners.

From 12:00 a.m. on March 12th through 11:59 p.m. on May 10th, participants can post videos and a maximum of three videos from each participant’s account can be uploaded. The Ministry states that the TikTok video should be of 60 seconds with a clip containing a person lip-syncing to the Maldives Tourism Golden Jubilee Theme Song “Nala Nala Raajje”. The video should be uploaded with the official TikTok handle of Ministry of Tourism, “@mot.mv” and should also contain hashtags, #Maldives #NalaNalaRaajje #maldivestourism50 #visitmaldives.

Maldivians can participate in one of two categories: Category A, which is for TikTok user accounts with more than 10,000 followers, and Category B, which is for TikTok user accounts with fewer than 10,000 followers. Three winners will be chosen from each category. The first-place winner will earn MVR25,000, second-place winners will receive MVR15,000, and third-place winners will receive MVR10,000.

Foreigners are can also participate in two categories: Category A, which includes TikTok user accounts with more than one million followers, and Category B, which includes TikTok user accounts with fewer than one million followers. Two winners will be chosen from each category. The first-place winner will get an eight-day vacation package for two people. Foreigners who rank second will receive a five-day vacation package for two.

Evaluations for the entries will begin on 11th May and the winners will be announced on May 17, 2022, via the Ministry of Tourism’s official social media accounts. The winners will be chosen by a panel of judges, and the videos with the most views, likes, and shares in each category will be awarded points on a pro-rata basis. The number of views of the videos will be worth 35 percent of the points, while likes will be worth 25% and shares will be worth 40%.
