Velaa Private Island is making further donations with essential protective gear supplies to all islands of Noonu Atoll.
As part of the resort’s efforts to curb the spread of the virus, they have donated 20,000 gloves and masks to 13 different islands in the atoll. The donations were handed over to the local task force of each island.
Each island was given a quantity that exceeded their respective populations, an official by the resort reported.
The luxurious Velaa Private Island’s owners also made a major contribution to the Maldives government.
The donation by Daniel Kretinsky, the owner of a $7.8 billion Czech energy conglomerate EPH, and Czech financier Jiri Smejc included five ventilators, 10,000 test kits, 100,000 face masks, 200 respirators and 500 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits.
In addition to this, the resort has previously launched a special employee relief scheme to help its employees in face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
