“With the opening of 12-15 new resorts this year, we anticipate the industry will soon benefit from 2,700 new beds,” he revealed.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the Maldives presently offers 62,345 tourism beds, with 42,955 beds from 174 resorts and 14,461 beds from 860 guesthouses.

Underscoring the government’s commitment to encouraging investment in tourism infrastructure on less developed islands, Minister Faisal disclosed plans to host investor forums in multiple countries, starting in July or August.

“We aim to hold the first investor forum in July or August,” he stated, adding that preparations are underway for an investor forum in Thailand.

“We are seeing encouraging interest from investors,” Minister Faisal noted, emphasising the government’s efforts to facilitate investments by reducing acquisition costs and offering attractive incentives.

This significant expansion illustrates the Maldives’ commitment to enhancing its tourism offerings and attracting global investments, promising an even more vibrant and diverse experience for future visitors.
