PCR Tests No Longer Required for Fully Vaccinated Travellers Arriving in the Maldives

Effective from 05th March 2022, travellers are no longer required to present a negative PCR test result upon arrival if they have completed the prescribed dose(s) of COVID-19 vaccine.

As per the announcement made my Health Protection Agency (HPA), individuals who have passed at least 14 days after receiving the recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved in the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Emergency Use List or by Maldives Food & Drug Authority (MFDA), will no longer have to present proof of a negative PCR test upon arrival.

Tourists who spend their holiday in tourist facilities in inhabited islands are also no longer required to do a PCR test when departing from respective inhabited islands.

However, Work Permit Holders and Maldivians are required to do a PCR test for COVID-19 between 3-5 days of arrival to Maldives. Additionally, children (above one year) who are not eligible for vaccination and individuals who have not completed the prescribed dose(s) of a COVID-19 vaccine, will still be required to present a negative PCR upon arrival to Maldives, for which the sample for the PCR is taken at most 96 hours before the departure from the first port of embarkation.
