Bulgarian airline GullivAir is set to launch direct scheduled flights between Malé and Sofia from 6 November 2026, establishing a new non-stop air connection between the Maldives and Bulgaria.
The service is scheduled to operate throughout the 2026/2027 winter season until 26 March 2027, providing direct connectivity between the two destinations without the need for an intermediate airport connection.
Flights will operate once a week, with departures from Malé every Friday and from Sofia every Saturday. The service will be operated using an Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft.
GullivAir will operate the Malé–Sofia service every Friday, departing Malé at 16:30 and arriving in Sofia at 23:30. The return service from Sofia to Malé will operate every Saturday, departing at 19:45 and arriving in Malé at 07:15 the following day.
The new route is expected to provide greater convenience for travellers between the Maldives and Bulgaria, supporting both leisure and business travel while strengthening direct air connectivity between the two markets.
GullivAir will operate the route using its Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft, which is used for the airline’s long-haul services. Passengers travelling on the long-haul service will receive two hot meals and beverages during the flight. Additional services and baggage allowances will depend on the fare selected at the time of booking.
The new direct service will provide travellers from the Maldives with a non-stop connection to Sofia during the European winter season, while also giving Bulgarian travellers direct access to Malé and the Maldives.
