Joy Island Maldives Introduces New Gaming Experience With Joy Arcade

Joy Island Maldives has opened the brand-new Joy Arcade, introducing a dedicated entertainment space where guests can enjoy immersive games, interactive experiences and technology-driven activities during their stay at the North Malé Atoll resort. The new addition expands the resort’s range of on-island experiences, creating another space for guests of different ages to play, compete and spend time together.

Designed as an entertainment hub for families, couples and friends, Joy Arcade brings four gaming experiences together in one room. The space combines racing, motion simulation, virtual reality and interactive shooting games, giving guests the opportunity to switch between different experiences and enjoy a varied gaming session.

At the centre of the arcade is a three-screen racing car simulator, featuring a curved triple-screen cockpit, a responsive force-feedback steering wheel and pedals. Guests can race on virtual circuits, either taking on the track themselves or challenging others to beat their time. The VR Moto experience brings a different form of motion-based entertainment, with a motorcycle simulator that leans, tilts and accelerates in response to the virtual terrain. The experience takes guests through a range of digital environments, from coastal roads to futuristic off-world tracks.

For guests looking for a more immersive virtual reality experience, the 9D VR Platform features twin motion pods paired with a library of titles spanning adventure, horror and flight experiences. The platform can accommodate up to two players, making it an option for guests looking to experience the virtual environments together.

The fourth station, VR Gun Shooting, combines a motion-tracked blaster with a VR headset for target and wave-shooter challenges. Scores are displayed on the in-room leaderboard, adding a competitive element for guests looking to test their accuracy and aim. Joy Arcade is open daily from 10:00am to 12:00pm, 2:00pm to 6:00pm and 9:00pm to 11:00pm. Guests can walk in without a prior booking, with play passes available from the arcade desk during opening hours.

Play passes are available in one-hour, two-hour, three-hour and four-hour options, as well as an unlimited day pass. Every pass provides access to all four stations, with the duration determining the amount of play time available. Guests can check the arcade desk for current pricing and any applicable resort or stay-package rates.

The arcade is open to guests of different ages, with each machine carrying its own recommended minimum age. The racing simulator and VR Gun Shooting experience are recommended for ages eight and above, while the VR Moto simulator is recommended for ages 10 and above. The 9D VR Platform is recommended for ages six and above, with younger guests potentially requiring a parent or guardian nearby for motion-based experiences.

Beyond individual sessions, Joy Arcade can also be used for birthday celebrations and special events. Private sessions can be arranged for groups, with party host support and refreshments available to complement the experience. Headsets, controllers and safety equipment are provided at the arcade and sanitised between guests, while comfortable closed-toe footwear is recommended for the motion-based stations.

With the opening of Joy Arcade, Joy Island Maldives adds another technology-led experience to its collection of activities, giving guests an additional way to enjoy their time on the island.
