Mandarin Oriental Group to Open its First Resort in the Maldives

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has partnered with Emirati property developer DAMAC Properties to operate a new luxury resort in the Maldives that is scheduled to open in 2025.

The resort, which is currently under development, will stretch across three private islands on Bolidhuffaru Reef in South Male Atoll. It will be accessible via a 20-minute speedboat ride from Male’s Velana International Airport.

There are 120 separate villas in all, with 56 overwater villas and 64 beachfront villas, as well as 10 branded Mandarin Oriental Residences. Each of the villas will provide solitude, private pools, and ocean views, with sizes ranging from 2,152 to 10,764 square feet. The group is working with several international consultants with a focus on sustainability throughout all stages of the development.

The exact details haven’t yet been revealed, but Mandarin is planning six different dining outlets, including three specialty restaurants and a sunset bar, along with separate spaces, both indoor and outdoor, for meetings, social gatherings, and weddings.

The resort will also offer meeting and event spaces, including facilities for weddings.
