New Passenger Rest and Service Area Opens at Velana International Airport Terminal 1

A new passenger rest and service area has opened at Terminal 1 of Velana International Airport, adding new facilities aimed at improving comfort and convenience for travellers departing the Maldives.

The newly developed facility spans approximately 750 square metres on the terminal’s first floor, providing additional seating space with a variety of arrangements designed to offer passengers a more comfortable environment while waiting for their flights.

A dedicated 136-square-metre children’s play area is also available within the facility, featuring multi-level play structures, woven mesh tunnels, rope and ring climbing elements, and a ball pit. The addition provides families travelling through Terminal 1 with a more engaging and child-friendly airport experience.

The area also includes a new banking service facility operated by Bank of Maldives, offering foreign exchange services and USD issuance facilities for Maldivian travellers.

The expansion forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance passenger facilities at Velana International Airport, supporting the airport’s role as the country’s main international gateway and improving the overall travel experience for visitors and residents.
