Nexia Maldives partnered with Summer Island Maldives to host a one day sustainability event on 25th January 2024, to mark Nexia Week in the Maldives. Nexia Week is a week-long event organised annually by Nexia, a global network of independent accounting and consulting firms.

This year’s Nexia Week focuses on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) themes. The gathering welcomed both local and international delegates. During the event, participants learned about Summer Island Maldives’ sustainability initiatives, including its reef generation efforts in the Blue Lagoon, an impressive coral nursery, and its 3-D printed reef, recognised as the largest of its kind by Guinness World Records. The participants also undertook a coral planting initiative during the event.
Speaking about the event, Hamid Sodique, Managing Director of Nexia Maldives, said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Summer Island Maldives to mark Nexia Week and raise awareness about the critical impact of climate change on coral reefs. This partnership highlights the vulnerability of our natural environment and emphasises how our livelihoods are directly impacted. By learning about and addressing these challenges together, we hope to foster a deeper understanding and commitment to preserving our precious and valuable ecosystems.”
