Niva Kuramathi Maldives is set to welcome the festive season with a programme inspired by the island’s natural surroundings, Maldivian traditions and experiences shaped by the ocean. The celebrations will begin on 21 December with a Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at sunset, followed by live music and traditional Bodu Beru drumming.
On 28 and 29 December, guests can experience a traditional Maldivian Market featuring local artisanal crafts, traditional drumming and a folklore parade. The festive programme will bring together island traditions and cultural experiences throughout the season.
Christmas Eve Festivities

The sandbank shimmers at dusk – welcome drinks, carols, the warm glow of sunset. Santa arrives, elves in tow, and the night opens into a grand gala buffet – shared plates, candlelight, the joy of being together. A classic Christmas film screening under the open sky brings the day to a close.
Countdown to 2027

New Year’s Eve festivities begin as dusk settles across the island – sip artisanal cocktails on the sandbank, the sand cool beneath your feet. A gala dinner unfolds across Farivalhu, Malaafaiy, and Haruge – fairy lights, glasses catching the glow – and then, the countdown. Fireworks paint the sky. Live music and DJ sets pulse from Fung Bar and Sand Bar – barefoot dancing under a sky full of stars.
Festive Rhythms

Every day offers something different – a moonlit yoga session on the sandbank, sand sculpting, Sip & Paint evening for couples, a fire dance show under open sky. Beach volleyball, a friendly football match – Niva Kuramathi team against guests, and kayak, pedal boats and SUP races that spill into laughter. Wine tasting, karaoke, music trivia – evenings that linger – live music drifting across the water and DJ nights that turn barefoot and electric. Cookery classes at Kobe, where the open kitchen becomes part of the experience. Come to all of it or drift toward the quiet. The season holds room for both.
The season draws to a close on 1 January 2027 with a late morning brunch and the first dive of the year on the house reef – a meaningful beginning to the year ahead.
Little Ones, Big Magic

At Bageecha Kids Club, the season is filled with adventure, discovery, and wonder – treasure hunts, splash pad games, cookie-making, and arts and crafts. Eco workshops and nature explorations sit alongside holiday movies, karaoke, bracelet making, gardening in the hydroponic garden, a scavenger hunt adventure, mini-Olympic games, kids’ yoga, and disco dancing. Lunch and dinner shared with new friends, mornings and afternoons that drift from one small adventure to the next. Each day shaped to feel like discovery.
Christmas arrives – magically, exactly as it should. Christmas Eve begins with a morning family photograph, followed by gingerbread house decorating, writing letters to Santa, a palm leaf handicraft workshop, and outdoor games that spill across the sand. Christmas morning starts with a pyjama party with musical games; pool play and friendship. Then, as the light turns golden, families gather at the Athiri Deck to welcome Santa.
Gifts emerge from Santa’s sack – and small faces turn bright with wonder. New Year’s Eve celebrations unfold for the little ones in the afternoon. Their pool fills with music, movement, laughter. A children’s disco swirls into something wonderfully their own.
