OBLU SELECT Sangeli Set to Welcome Festive Season with ‘A Fisherman’s Tale’

OBLU SELECT Sangeli is set to welcome guests to the festive season with a programme inspired by the traditional Maldivian fisherman’s lifestyle. Centred around the theme ‘A Fisherman’s Tale’, the festive calendar celebrates the rich local heritage of fishing, reflecting the values of patience, community and shared abundance.
Running throughout December 2026 and into January 2027, the programme brings together family-friendly activities, wellness sessions, entertainment and Maldivian-inspired experiences. Guests can take part in activities including beach games, Christmas tree lighting and carol singing, culinary classes, dhoni cruises, night fishing, cocktail creation and live music evenings.
Christmas Celebrations
The Christmas programme features a range of activities for guests of all ages, with children’s experiences including ornament making, colourful sips, gingerbread house decorations, a gingerbread man hunt, movie sessions, bingo and festive nail art. Adults can enjoy live music, karaoke nights, cocktail sessions and a wine tasting, while the programme also includes a meeting with the resort’s Coral Doctor.
Christmas Eve will feature a series of celebrations across the resort, followed by Christmas Day activities including a pool bash with DJ, a gingerbread man hunt, a meeting with the Coral Doctor, a themed buffet and live duo band performance.
A Fisherman’s Tale
The festive theme continues with ‘Fisherman’s Legacy: From Tradition to Conservation’, described as an interactive marine conservation experience connecting guests with the cultural heritage of Maldivian fishing and environmental challenges facing the oceans.
New Year’s Eve will bring the festive calendar to its finale with a Fisherman’s Tale Dinner, Fisherman New Year Splash, a HOD’s Fashion Show in fisherman dress, a final countdown and fireworks, followed by a DJ party. The evening’s programme will also feature live music, belly dance performances and a GM’s speech.
Welcoming 2027
The celebrations continue into January with a New Year Lazy Brunch, Sangeli Carnival, Indian Ocean-themed buffet and Bodu Beru. The programme also includes children’s activities, pool parties, beach volleyball, spa workshops, live music and further experiences such as coral planting and meeting the Coral Doctor.
