Ooredoo Maldives has celebrated its 16th company anniversary today, marking an illustrious journey of enriching people’s lives, and digitally empowering the Maldives and its tourism industry.
Ooredoo Maldives, formerly known as Wataniya Telecom Maldives, is a member of Ooredoo Group. Launched on the 1st of August 2005, within less than a decade the company revolutionized the telecommunication industry of Maldives by introducing leading-edge technologies and telecommunication solutions to its valued customers.
Over the years, Ooredoo Maldives has been working as a digital partner for various resorts and tourism sector businesses. One such innovative service introduced by Ooredoo is its Digital Resort App. This is a single window for resorts to engage with their guests before, during, and after their stay at the resort. It enables guests to interact with different departments, be it concierge services, resort information, or booking of a special treat through their mobile devices. Moving away from traditional ways of connecting with guests, the Digital Resort App enables resorts to create innovative engagement opportunities and help deliver a high-impact differentiation.
Additionally, in 2020, Ooredoo Maldives together with Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Tourism Ministry and Orca Media Group, launched a destination marketing campaign “Visit Maldives Now” reaching its international network of over 117 million people across 10 countries as well. As the impact of the global pandemic on the local tourism sector has been felt by families across the nation, this exciting destination marketing campaign was aimed at promoting this beautiful country across the Ooredoo global network.
Across the globe, Ooredoo continues to utilize its strengths and resources to benefit the communities within which it exists. Guided by its vision of enriching people’s lives and its belief that it can stimulate growth by leveraging communications to help people and businesses achieve their full potential, Ooredoo has transformed the telecommunications industry of the Maldives.
