SriLankan Airlines Partners with Manta Air to Offer Better Connectivity in Southern Maldives

SriLankan Airlines has joined Manta Air in offering convenient connectivity in Southern Maldives.

During a press conference today, it was revealed that Manta Air will be commencing flights to Kooddoo and Gan. Coupled with SriLankan Airlines’ direct flights from Colombo to Gan, this will offer greater connectivity for those looking to explore the beauty of Maldives’ Southern atolls.

Speaking at the press conference this morning, the Regional Manager of SriLankan Airlines Jayantha Abeysinghe said that this was an opportunity they had hoped for when starting flights to Gan. While there will be two scheduled weekly flights from Colombo to Gan by the end of March, he stated that discussions are underway to increase the frequency to three weekly flights.

CEO of Manta Air Mr. Mohamed Khaleel expressed that he looked forward to a fruitful partnership with SriLankan Airlines in offering better connectivity in the region. “Due to the lack of convenient connectivity and consequent costs to tourists, it has not been viable for many of them to travel and holiday in the outer atolls. Now, with the introduction of this new route, we can help bloom the tourism industry in the South. This will also develop the guesthouse, homestay and safari markets in the region.”

Mr. Khaleel also added that Manta Air will soon be starting direct flights to Indian cities, thereby increasing direct connectivity to the Maldives. “India is a significant source market, so adding these routes is something that is in our pipeline as well.”

To mark the commencement of this new route, Manta Air is having a promotion its Addu flight tickets, the price of which will start at MVR 1250.
