The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives, Autograph Collection Welcomes Two-Michelin-Star Chef Pascal Steffen

The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives, Autograph Collection is set to welcome Swiss chef Pascal Steffen for a week-long culinary residency from 1–7 October 2026, bringing his ingredient-driven approach to the private island retreat.

Steffen, Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Roots Basel in Switzerland, holds two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points. His cuisine places vegetables at the centre of the plate, complemented by carefully sourced meat and seafood, creating a natural connection with The Halcyon’s own approach to island dining.

During the residency, Steffen will collaborate with the resort’s culinary team to create a series of dishes inspired by the Maldives, drawing on ingredients from the Traveller’s Garden and the daily catch that features across the resort’s dining venues, including Thari, Yuzu and The Firepit.

The collaboration will also extend beyond the island, with Roots Basel set to debut a collaborative dish in Basel ahead of Steffen’s arrival in the Maldives, offering an introduction to the residency before its full expression unfolds at The Halcyon Private Isles.

The week-long residency will bring together Swiss culinary expertise and the flavours of the Maldives, creating a dining experience shaped by local ingredients, seasonal produce and Steffen’s distinctive culinary philosophy.
