The Island of Serene Wonders, Madifushi Private Island Officially Opens

Meemu Atoll’s latest luxury address, Madifushi Private Island has officially opened today.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Monday evening, was graced by the Minister of Tourism Dr Abdulla Mausoom along with other ministry officials. Speaking at the event, Dr Mausoom highlighted tourism’s potential as a catalyst for growth in Meemu Atoll, a region that had been greatly devastated by the effects of the 2004 tsunami. He further congratulated the management of Madifushi Private Island on its grand opening.

Speaking on the property’s concept, Steve Ng, Group General Manager of Madifushi Private Island, Hulhule’ Island Hotel and Maldives Inflight Catering, revealed that rejuvenation, relaxation and serenity were at the very core of its ethos. “We want our guests to be able to step away from their busy lives, to unwind and reconnect with nature,” he said. “It’s not about the product anymore. It’s about how our guests feel when they step foot onto this island and the memories that they take back with them. That’s what we’re focusing on.”

Madifushi Private Island, quietly marooned in an expansive turquoise lagoon, is a short 35-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport. A nature-centric property designed to sit in harmony with its environment, this untouched coastal getaway features a total of 80 beach and overwater villas. These intimate sanctuaries are complete with a terrace that leads to a private pool, with access to the palm-fringed shore or perched over the Indian Ocean with either a sunset or sunrise view.

Sit back and indulge in Madifushi Private Island’s many delicious dining options, from beachfront bites to private in-villa dining. Bluefin, the all-day dining outlet, serves exquisite cuisines from all over the world; be spoilt for choice with Italian, Mediterranean and Asian fare. Fahrenheit, a volcano-themed speciality restaurant offers fiery, mouth-watering steakhouse grills of surf and turf. And if you’re looking to cool off from the Maldivian heat, check out the Splash Bar or the Mojito Bar, each with an extensive selection of classic and continental drinks.

Meanwhile, Mandara Spa offers guests a total sensory experience. The all-natural treatments here draw on the ancient health and beauty traditions of Asia, from cultures that celebrate refinement and honour nature’s gifts. Facilities include dry and wet saunas, a spa boutique, a relaxation lounge and treatment rooms with highly trained experts to guide you in your wellness journey.
