Velana International Airport Announces Partners for Air Service World Congress 2024

Velana International Airport (VIA) announced the partners for the Air Service World Congress (ASWC) 2024. The announcement was made during an event held at the Noovilu Seaplane Terminal of Velana International Airport. The event saw participation from the CEO and Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), deputy managing directors, senior management, and the partners.

Mr Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, CEO and Managing Director of MACL, said that “ President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has prioritized the development of Velana International Airport with a visionary Masterplan and that this plan will drive national prosperity through aviation development, congruent with the growth of our tourism sector. Velana International Airport will be at the core of this transformation, expanding alongside our booming economy. This expansion will attract more connections between Velana and the world. “

Speaking as the chief guest of the event, the Chairperson of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation, Ms Aysha Nurain Janah, highlighted the event’s potential to bring new partnerships and expand networks, increasing both air service to local islands and the number of visitors welcomed each year. “Today, the Maldives stands on the cusp of a new era in air travel. We look forward to enhancing the recognition that we have as positioning Velana International Airport and the Maldives not just as a destination but as a distinctive must-visit location on the global map,” Chairperson Ms Aysha Nurain Janah added.

The Air Service World Congress 2024 is the first aviation route development event in the Maldives, bringing together international delegates for face-to-face discussions about the future of the aviation sector.  This event is scheduled to take place from July 9th to 11th, 2024 at Kurumba Maldives.

The event is expected to attract 300 delegates from various regions of the world. These delegates include airport and route development executives, airline executives, airline networking planners, aviation suppliers, and representatives from aviation and tourism bodies.
