Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed stated during his monthly press conference that 45 new resorts will open in the next 3 years.
Currently, over 140 resorts operate in Maldives with multiple new properties launchings scheduled.
New properties that have recently debuted in Maldives include the Baglioni Resorts Maldives, Waldorf Astoria Maldives, Innahura Maldives, Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, SAii Lagoon Maldives and You & Me by Cocoon Maldives. Current records show that Kaafu Atoll and Raa Atoll saw the most property opening by the end of June.
With the opening of new resorts, it is expected the number of beds will increase from the current number 2,828 in the coming years.
