Aitken Spence Hotels has announced that all five of its Maldives sector resorts have successfully achieved Green Globe recertification under the Green Globe Standard 1.7 – Hotel & Resort Category, marking continued progress in the group’s sustainability efforts across the Maldives.
The 2026 recertification is supported by improved compliance scores across every property compared with 2024. Heritance Aarah recorded the highest increase, rising from 87 per cent to 91 per cent, while Adaaran Select Meedhupparu improved from 87 per cent to 89 per cent and Adaaran Club Rannalhi from 88 per cent to 89 per cent. Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi increased from 87 per cent to 88 per cent, while Adaaran Prestige Vadoo rose from 86 per cent to 87 per cent.
The results reflect continued efforts across the portfolio to strengthen responsible operations, environmental stewardship and sustainable hospitality practices. Since 2017, Aitken Spence Hotels’ Maldives sector has worked with external certification bodies to assess and improve its sustainability performance.
The latest Green Globe recertification highlights the progress achieved through collaboration across the five resorts, with sustainability teams, engineering departments, learning and development teams and colleagues contributing to the certification process.
Aitken Spence Hotels said the achievement reinforces its focus on embedding sustainability into day-to-day operations while supporting the long-term wellbeing of the destinations in which its resorts operate.
The group expressed its appreciation to the Sustainability Champions, Chief Engineers, Learning & Development teams and colleagues across all five resorts for their contribution to the latest certification.
