Veligandu Maldives Resort Island to Celebrate the Festive Season with Island Experiences

Veligandu Maldives Resort Island is set to welcome the festive season with a programme of celebrations, dining experiences, entertainment and island activities, inviting guests to enjoy Christmas and the arrival of 2027 in the natural surroundings of the island.

Running from 23 December 2026 to 5 January 2027, the programme brings together festive traditions, culinary experiences, wellness activities and opportunities to explore the island.

Christmas Celebrations on the Island

The festive celebrations begin with a series of seasonal experiences, including Christmas pudding mixing, holiday card making and festive dining. On Christmas Eve, guests can enjoy a cocktail reception at Thundi Bar, followed by the arrival of Santa Claus and Christmas carols. The evening continues with a Christmas Eve Gala Dinner accompanied by live music at Dhonveli Restaurant Beach, before a DJ beach party brings the celebrations into the night.

Christmas Day features a festive lunch at Dhonveli Restaurant, alongside activities including a cooking class, latte art making with the resort’s barista and live music. Guests can also take part in the Behind the Scenes Tour and enjoy the island’s themed buffet dinner.

Island Experiences and Entertainment

Throughout the festive programme, guests can enjoy a variety of activities across the island. Daily experiences include sunrise yoga in the middle of the ocean, followed by a healthy breakfast, while water sports enthusiasts can enjoy e-foil, X-Jetblade, Seabob and jet ski experiences.

The programme also features nature walks, beach volleyball, paddle tennis, pickleball challenges, fitness sessions and creative workshops. Guests can take part in sandcastle competitions, towel art, origami, sand art and leaf crafting, alongside activities designed to bring everyone together.

Evenings bring further entertainment, with live music, themed parties, cultural performances and beachside gatherings. Highlights include a Maldivian cultural show, a White Glow Party, a belly dance and fire dance show, and a pop-up street food market.

A Festive Journey Through Flavours

Dining takes centre stage throughout the season, with a selection of themed buffets and special culinary experiences. Guests can enjoy Seafood Under the Stars at Madivaru Restaurant, alongside Japanese-inspired Nikkei dining, Spanish culinary experiences and Omakase dinners.

The programme also features The Sommelier’s Wine Journey, The Sommelier’s Table and an Art of Rum and Chocolate Pairing experience. On Christmas Eve, the celebrations include a special gala dinner, while New Year’s Eve brings a festive gala dinner buffet at Dhonveli Restaurant.

Welcoming 2027

On 31 December, Veligandu Maldives Resort Island will bid farewell to 2026 with a cocktail reception accompanied by live music at Thundi Bar. The evening continues with a New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner and the Journey of Stars & Sea themed New Year’s Eve Party at Thundi Bar Beach, followed by late-night snacks.

The first days of 2027 continue with further celebrations, including a New Year brunch, a balloon-dropping countdown and a Maldivian cultural show. Guests can also enjoy wellness activities, culinary experiences, live music and island entertainment throughout the programme.
