Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort Appoints Magdalena Martorell as General Manager
- Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort has appointed Magdalena Martorell as its new General Manager, bringing over two decades of international hospitality experience.
- Martorell previously led Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort in Indonesia and Meliá Phuket Mai Khao in Thailand across a decade-long Asian career.
- She will focus on enhancing dining, wellness and nature-based experiences while strengthening the resort's position in Baa Atoll's UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort has appointed Magdalena Martorell as the new General Manager, bringing more than two decades of international hospitality experience across Europe and Asia to the Baa Atoll resort.
Originally from Spain, Martorell has spent more than a decade developing her career across Asia, leading resort operations in several of the region’s island destinations. Prior to joining Avani+ Fares Maldives, she served as General Manager of Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort in Indonesia, following four years as General Manager of Meliá Phuket Mai Khao in Thailand.
Martorell takes a people-focused approach to hospitality, with a leadership philosophy centred on empowering teams to bring their individual personalities into the guest experience. Her approach combines personalised service with a strong focus on operational and commercial performance.
At Avani+ Fares Maldives, Martorell will focus on building on the resort’s distinctive character and strengthening its position as an island destination in Baa Atoll. Her priorities include developing memorable dining and wellness experiences, alongside activities that connect guests with the natural surroundings of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Her leadership approach is also shaped by her belief in being present and accessible across the resort, creating opportunities to connect with both guests and team members. Her personal interests in wellness, sport, the ocean and active island living further align with the setting and experience of Avani+ Fares Maldives.
With her appointment, Martorell will lead the resort into its next chapter, bringing together Avani’s contemporary and energetic approach with the natural setting of Fares Island and its surrounding marine environment.
