Local private company, ‘The Beyyaa’ has launched a campaign together with national airline Maldivian to plant a coconut palm tree for every purchase of a t-shirt under the campaign.
The campaign titled ‘Beyyaa T-Shirt Movement’ was inaugurated by the Speaker of the Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed and Maldivian’s Deputy Managing Director at a special ceremony held at the airlines ‘Moonima’ lounge at Velana International Airport (VIA) on Saturday.
Under this campaign, a palm tree will be planted and nurtured in the Maldives by Beyyaa company for every t-shirt purchased.
Speaking at the ceremony, former President Nasheed emphasized the campaign’s significance and remarked upon how it can play a huge role to improve the greenery that is being lost to climate change and to man-made environmental consequences.
