Close to the resort, Olhuveli Hulhangu Faru, known as the “milky sand reef”, is a peaceful site where stingrays, turtles, nurse sharks and seasonal manta rays can be spotted. Olhuveli Medhu Faru features shallow reef tops, deeper coral formations and scattered thilas, while Halaaku Thari Thila, Thin Sehli Thila and Gaa Vehtunu Thila offer reef formations, gentle drop-offs and schools of colourful fish. Boava Thila is particularly suited to relaxed dives, with hawksbill turtles and distinctive coral.
Around 15 to 25 minutes from Meyyafushi, divers can explore sites including Talabo Thila, where stingrays and nurse sharks frequent the sandy areas, and Salleydhoo Thila, known for its clouds of glassfish. Ookolhu Faru and Neyfai Haeh Thila feature coral gardens and sandy plateaus, while Hudhu Thila is ideal for macro enthusiasts, with nudibranchs, pipefish and other smaller marine species.
For experienced divers, the surrounding channels offer encounters with larger pelagic life. Maduvvari Irumathi Kann and Maduvvari Dhekunu Kann can attract grey reef sharks, snapper and tuna, while Varihuraa Kann and Lhohi Dekunu Kann provide classic drift dives with barracuda, jackfish and turtles. Meyyafushi Kandu offers a classic channel crossing, while Meyyafushi Beyru combines coral walls, sandy plateaus, cleaning stations and seasonal manta ray encounters.
Further sites such as Alighaa Beyru Edge, Alighaa Beyru Faru, Faadhoo Kandu and Faadhoo Beyru offer deeper profiles, stronger currents and expansive ocean environments. Nemo Thila provides another highlight, with colourful coral, schools of fish, anemone gardens and occasional shark sightings.
