Named after the Maldivian word for “sandbank”, Finolhu is defined by its striking natural setting, with nearly two kilometres of white sandy beaches stretching across four islands. The resort operates an osmosis plant that converts seawater into drinking water, which is then purified and bottled in glass. It has also eliminated plastic straws and uses refillable glass bottles for body care products.
The resort has also developed a Coral Reef Propagation Project aimed at restoring parts of its house reef. Coral fragments are attached to spiderweb-shaped frames and placed within a nursery at the edge of the reef, where they are monitored and maintained as they grow.
