Four New Board Directors Appointed to Visit Maldives Corporation

The board of Visit Maldives Corporation Limited has been expanded with the appointment of four new directors, reflecting continued reliance on senior government officials and technical staff in shaping the country’s tourism promotion strategy.

The Privatization and Corporatization Board announced the appointments, which bring in individuals with backgrounds in finance, communications, and tourism administration. The new directors are Hudha Faheem, Aishath Malha, Ali Shinan, and Aishath Ali.

Hudha Faheem most recently worked as a communication specialist within the Project Management Unit of the Ministry of Finance. Aishath Malha, appointed under the accounting and finance category, currently serves as an analyst in the Treasury Management section of the same ministry.

The remaining appointments further strengthen the board’s links to the tourism sector. Aishath Ali serves as Director General at the Ministry of Tourism, while Ali Shinan holds the position of Deputy Director General at the ministry.

Following these changes, the board continues to be led by Chairman Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz, alongside Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree. The broader board structure includes a mix of executive and non-executive directors.

The appointments come as Visit Maldives continues its role as the country’s primary tourism promotion body. Originally established in 2010 as the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation, the entity was formally registered the following year and underwent a rebranding in July last year, adopting its current name.

The composition of the board, with representation from key government institutions, reflects an approach that ties tourism marketing closely to broader public sector policy and fiscal management.
