Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has offered rent waiver and discounts upto 50% to airlines as well as tourism associates at Velana International Airport.
“As a foremost airport service provider in the Maldives, our accomplishment has always been the success of our business partners,” a statement by MACL read. “Upon monitoring and analyzing the effects on partners, the management of MACL decided to offer rent waiver, discount to COVID-19 impacted Airline and airport partners as well as tourism associates at VIA.”

In addition to this, MACL announced that the rent invoices raised in the aforementioned duration will be adjusted by issuing a credit note to effect this discount.
During the course of COVID-19 pandemic, as an incentive to support and to boost up the tourism industry in the Maldives, MACL has also offered attractive discounts from airport charges to International Airline operators on June 2020.
MACL is the operator of Velana International Airport and has been massively involved in destination marketing and bringing in new airlines to Maldives to boost up the tourism industry. MACL has embarked on one of the biggest projects in the history of Maldives in developing the future Velana International Airport such as the development of a brand new international passenger terminal, a new code F runway, a new cargo terminal complex and a new fuel farm along with hydrant system and major infrastructure developments at Velana internationals Airport.
