Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has represented the Maldives brand at the prestigious Celtic Manor Resort’s Celebrity Cup 2019. MMPRC sponsored the gala dinner and drinks reception at the event in South Wales in the United Kingdom from 13th – 14th July 2019, marking the first time a tourism brand has got involved in this prestigious golf event.
Maldives branding was prevalent across the event, culminating in a charity raffle that showcased the Maldives and a five-night holiday for accommodation at two of Coco Collection’s resorts. The prize includes three nights of accommodation at the four-star Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu in Baa Atoll and two nights of accommodation at the five-star Coco Bodu Hithi in North Malé Atoll.
Celtic Manor Resort’s annual Celebrity Cup sees some of the biggest names in sport and show business, in a thrilling clash between teams representing Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland. Stars teeing up at this year’s competition included singer Brian McFadden, actor James Nesbitt, TV presenter Gethin Jones, rugby player Mike Tindall and entrepreneur and TV star Peter Jones.
Based on the Arrival figures from January to May, UK is ranked in the fifth position for highest performing markets to the Maldives accounting for 7.7% of total market share. Tourist arrivals were recorded to be 57,647, an increase of 12.9% when compared to 2018.
