The Maldives is showcased at the biggest travel fair in Malaysia, organized by the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA). Happening at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur, this 48th edition of MATTA Fair features 1,396 booths featuring 292 travel companies and tourism organisations.
According to Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Company (MMPRC), 9 companies from the Maldives are participating in this event which will be held from 6th to 8th September 2019. Among the activities carried out in this 54 square metres Maldivian stall includes a chance for the visitors to see the underwater beauty of Maldives through the use of virtual reality. In addition to this, live traditional performances will be carried out by local artists ‘Faiyimini Boduberu Group’.
MATTA informs that they are expecting at least 110,000 visitors to the fair this year.
The Malaysian market has promising potential whereby a total of 13,000 Malaysian tourists were welcomed to the Maldives so far this year.
