The Maldives targets to bring 1 Million tourists each year in the next five years.
Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid said that in his official visit to China, both countries have talked about strengthening the relations between both countries. And have discussed making China one of the countries from most of the tourists visit the Maldives.
“God willing, we will do this. The aim is to make arrangements so that one million tourists can visit Maldives [per year] before 2023”, Shahid said.
Shahid stated that their target is by 2023 over 1 Million tourists to visit the Maldives.
He also stated that they have discussed increasing the number of flights from China to the Maldives. As for now, approximately half a million tourists visit the Maldives for their vacations.
