Maldivian Launches Direct Flights to Three Major Chinese Cities, Marking New Era of Connectivity 

Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, announces the launch of direct flights to three major Chinese cities – Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai – marking a significant expansion of its international network. This strategic route expansion follows the recent addition of the airline’s first wide-body aircraft, the Airbus A330-200, and represents a crucial step in strengthening tourism ties between the Maldives and China. 

The inaugural flights are scheduled to commence with Chengdu on January 22, followed by Beijing on January 24 and Shanghai on January 27, 2025. These new routes will be operated by Maldivian’s newly acquired  Airbus A330-200 aircraft, featuring three cabin classes with 18 Business Class seats, 36 Premium Economy seats,  and 210 Economy Class seats.

Mr. Ismail Amrah Umar, Chief Commercial Officer of Maldivian, commented on this milestone, stating, “The launch of these direct flights to China represents a significant achievement in our expansion strategy. By connecting the  Maldives directly with three major Chinese cities, we are not only enhancing accessibility for Chinese tourists but  also strengthening the cultural and economic ties between our nations.” 

To celebrate these route launches, Maldivian is offering special fares for inaugural flights: 

• Male’ – Chengdu route for $688 return 

• Male’ – Beijing route for $788 return 

• Male’ – Shanghai route for $777 return 

All promotional fares include a generous baggage allowance of 40 kg and an attractive meal package, ensuring a comfortable journey for all passengers. These special offers are available for travel during the following periods: 

• Chengdu: January 22-30, 2025 

• Beijing: January 24 – February 1, 2025 

• Shanghai: January 27 – February 4, 2025
